Apteco sponsor Manchester area cross country league again
Posted: 02 Nov 2015
Apteco is happy to announce its continued sponsorship of the Manchester Area Cross Country League for the 2015 season.
The season opened with a record turnout of over 1000 runners at Woodbank Park. Jack Martin of host club Stockport Harriers won a hotly contested men’s race. Harriet Knowles-Jones (u18) won the women’s race by a big margin. Harriet is the leading runner in her age group in the country and definitely one to watch for future Olympics Games.
It was a fine autumn day and many spectators enjoyed watching races across age groups from u13 to seniors.
The league includes veteran categories and noticeable among them in the Woodbank results were two former Olympians: Diane Modhal, who was the 800 m champion at the 1990 Commonwealth Games and competed in all four Olympic Games from 1988 to 2000 and Jeff Norman who ran the marathon in Munich 1976.
Apteco is proud to support events which encourage the participation of both talented athletes and the many other participants who just enjoy the racing, mud and exercise.
Rob Downs, Apteco’s Technology Director comments:
"Our sponsorship of MACCL ensures that this great series can continue to thrive, providing competition and enjoyment for running clubs throughout the region.”
Apteco wish all the runners luck and hope they enjoy the cross country experience.
